The following
guidelines of Banner Raiding have been
established for the member clubs of
NSSARDA. These guidelines provide a
uniform and reasonable method of
conducting Banner Raids, which are
designed to promote sociability among
member clubs and also to increase
attendance at club dances. A meeting of
all Banner Chairmen or their
representatives will be conducted
immediately following the NSSARDA Annual
Meeting.
Each club
may possess three (3) or more
Traveling Banners. The Traveling
Banner is one that can be that can be
captured by any other Banner Club by
calling the Club's Banner Chairman in
advance of a monthly dance or workshop to
determine if one is available for capture.
If it has been established that a Banner
is available, and the visiting Club
brings (8) or more dancers to sign the
Guest Register at the specific dance, the
Club may "capture" the
available Banner. In order to "retrieve"
the Banner, the Banner Chairman must
organize a return Banner Raid of eight (8)
or more dancers to attend a future dance
of the capturing Banner Raiders.
Exceptions to these Guidelines must be
approved by both clubs prior to the dance.
Active NSSARDA Officers and Board Members
may assist any NSSARDA Member Club by
serving as a token member of that raiding
or retrieving club provided they only
sign in for one raiding or retrieval at
that dance. No dancer should sign in for
more than one raid or retrieval at any
given dance.
Clubs may
wish to keep a number of "Courtesy
Banners" on hand for presentation to
visiting clubs in attendance that do not
qualify for a Traveling Banner. The
"Courtesy Banner" is merely
given out as a token of appreciation, is
considered non-retrievable, and becomes
the permanent property of the visiting
Club. This type of banner is given out at
the discretion of the Officers and Banner
Chairman.
"CLASS"
BANNER RAIDS
There are
no formal rules or procedures in
existence for "Class Level"
Banner Raiding. Any group planning to
attend a Class Dance should check
beforehand with the Banner Chairman or
President of the Club to be visited to
determine what their policy is concerning
attendance requirements and courtesy
banner distribution.
Member
clubs should consider adopting a policy
with some flexibility for the
presentation of courtesy banners to
visiting clubs. The awarding of such
banners to visitors fosters goodwill with
respect to promoting public relations
among the clubs.
